Maiden of the Mist
When I see a young couple in love, my mind can’t help but return,
To the long ago days of my youth, when the word love, I was about to learn.
Her beauty captured my sight, her image I couldn’t let go,
My heart beat with a flutter, for this girl I barely did know.
But I was unsure of myself; I knew not how to approach this maid,
Even though every night in my dreams, our future plans were already being laid.
With her life she seemed quite happy, and since I was not a part,
I didn’t think she wanted to change and with me have a new start.
Oh, how I wanted to hold her and be the next one she kissed,
Though, I thought I was in love with a shadow, or an elusive maiden of the mist.
Yet, together we were meant to be, by the Creator and Lord of all,
As He brought us to each other, He said, “stand together, so you will not fall.”
Many years have come and gone, numerous trials have come and passed,
And together, we are still because together we stood fast.
Now trials have come anew, more severe than any before,
On us they have taken their toll and shaken us to our core.
But, God’s word we must remember and put it at the top of our list,
Together we must stand me and my elusive maiden of the mist.
